Effective date: to be set at public launch[date]. My Guitar Day ("we", "us") is a daily guitar lesson app run by [entity name], based in Chicago, Illinois.
What we collect
Your account. You sign in with Google. We receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We never see your Google password.
What you tell the coach. Your level, the genres and bands you like, your goals, standing instructions for the coach, and the daily asks you type in ("teach me the solo from…"). This is the material your lessons are built from.
Your practice. The lessons you've been given, the sections you've completed, the days you practiced, your streak, and feedback you give (songs you loved, exercises you skipped, items you saved from Explore). This is how the coach remembers you and gets better at teaching you.
Support messages. If you use the contact form, we store the name, email, subject, and message you send so we can reply.
Payments (once subscriptions launch). Payment is handled by Stripe. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and never touches our servers. We store only what we need to run your subscription: your Stripe customer ID, your plan, and its status.
Technical basics. Session cookies to keep you signed in, a short-lived cookie that carries your first lesson request through sign-in, and server logs (including AI token usage) that we use to run and debug the service. That's the whole cookie story — there are no advertising or analytics cookies.
How we use it
- To generate your daily lesson and shape it to you.
- To remember your progress, streaks, and preferences.
- To run, secure, debug, and improve the service.
- To answer your support messages.
- To send transactional email (receipts, account notices). We don't send marketing email without a separate opt-in.
- To bill your subscription (via Stripe).
AI, and where your words go
Lessons are AI-generated. When you ask for a lesson, your ask and relevant profile context (level, goals, preferences) are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to compose it. Anthropic processes this as a service provider; under their commercial API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
Embedded videos and outside links
Lessons embed YouTube videos through YouTube's official player, and link out to sites like Ultimate Guitar. When a YouTube player loads, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. The videos belong to their creators — we embed, we don't copy.
Who we share data with
Only the services that run the product, acting on our instructions:
- Supabase — database and authentication (where your account and practice data live)
- Google — sign-in
- Anthropic — lesson generation
- Vercel — application hosting
- Resend — transactional email
- Stripe — payments (once live)
Beyond that: only if the law requires it, or to protect the service from abuse. We do not sell or rent personal data, full stop.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active — the whole point of the product is memory that compounds. If you want your account and its data deleted, tell us through the contact page and we'll delete it.
Your choices
You can see and edit your profile in the app. You can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — the contact page reaches a human.
Children
My Guitar Day is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, contact us and we'll remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date, and email account holders about material changes.
